Our wide array of equipment permits effective dredging in a variety of conditions.
Dredging
With a crane mounted on our barge, the clam bucket offers greater reach and depth for soft materials. In conditions where materials such as sand, gravel, and stiff clay is encountered, a hydraulic excavator is most efficient in removing hard material. When upland disposal is required, material can be shuttled to shore and loaded into trucks.
For open lake disposal, our dump scows can release loads of material in a matter of seconds. With several scows ranging from 80 cubic yard to 250 cubic yard capacity, we can work in both open and confined areas.
Dredging Customer Base
We have performed dredging for a large customer base, including the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Sandusky Yacht Club, Cleveland Metroparks, North Coast Harbor, Clifton Lagoon Trustees, Sadler Sailing Basin, Wildwood Marina, and the Cleveland Yachting Club.
Interesting Dredging Project
Our most interesting dredging project to date was a demonstration dredging project for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at the mouth of the Toussaint River in 1995. What made the project so unusual was that unexploded ordnance peppered the dredging area. The U.S. Army had utilized this area in the early 1900’s for testing and proof firing of artillery. The purpose of the project was to determine a safe and efficient method of dredging such material.
Blast protection shields were built and installed to protect the crew. The material was dredged by clam bucket and placed on specially constructed screens which were affixed to the tops of the dump scows. Then a high powered fire hose was used to sift the dredge material through a screen, leaving any ordnance atop the screen. Video cameras were used to monitor the screens. An ordnance team from Human Factor Applications, Inc. worked with our crew, handling and disposing of any ordnance found.

Marina Reconstruction
We reconstruct Battery Park Marina in Sandusky. The project consisted of demolition of the existing docks and stone filled cribs, closing the existing entrance with a sheetpile cell, excvation of a new entrance, construction of a breakwater extension and drilling and grouting of 15″ diameter pipe pile into a limestone bottom for new floating docks.
Boathouse Foundations
We were hired by a group of homeowners on Bimini Drive in Sandusky after a fire consumed their boathouses. Our scope of work included 3 phases. 1) Demolition & Removal 2) Surveying, dredging, new sheetpile bulkheading and backfilling for 33 homeowners 3) Construction of catwalks and fire walls for boathouses.
